Good Eggs and Spam

Thu May 22, 2003 12:00 AM

Online direct marketing is WORKING! Online marketers have discovered the power of email, paid search, and the use of increasingly sophisticated targeting and ROI tracking techniques. However, these new marketing tools come with some sticky policy and PR quandaries such as:

  • What is the right privacy policy?
  • Should we have spam legislation?
  • How should marketers manage potentially negative public opinion?

This panel of experts will cover the successful techniques and new tools available to help marketers distribute and measure the effectiveness of online marketing. They will also discuss the tools available to help consumers reduce the volume of unsolicited emails received. Moreover, Panelists will debate the appropriate boundaries for balancing the need to protect users while still taking advantage of some of the most potent marketing tools available. Discussion will include specific case studies of successful marketing campaigns, as well as successful privacy and anti-spam programs.

  • Lon Otremba, COO, AOL
