The MIT EnterpriseĊ Forum of NYC serves the entrepreneurial community in the NY area with three programs:
Symposia on new industries, technologies, and business models are held with panels of experts in the various fields. These are directed not only at entrepreneurs, but at investors and professionals in established enterprises as well. Recent topics (link).
Business Plan Presentations feature the presentation of a business plan by the entrepreneurs and critiques of the plan and the presentation by an expert panel and the audience. Presenting entrepreneurs can use this event as a "practice run" before attempting to raise capital, and in fact presenting companies have received investments from venture capitalists and angels in the audience.
Business Builders Series Events are a new quarterly panel series intended to instruct entrepreneurs in critical business skills and processes. Most MITEF panels offer cutting-edge insight on the forces shaping specific industry sub-verticals; the Biz Builder panels, by contrast, will offer cutting-edge insight on the practical tools practitioners should use to prevail in any entrepreneurial vertical. Like all MITEF panels, BBS panels will feature experienced practitioners answering specific questions from a moderator, and then open questions from the audience. The difference is that these panelists will speak more about specific techniques and less about specific industry forces.
Business Plan Introductions, which include a short tutorial and roundtable discussion directed at the "entry level" entrepreneur, cover the basic elements of a business plan.
The EnterpriseĊ Forum is an activity of the MIT Alumni Association but is open to all.
