FINANCING THE NEW ECONOMY: WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF THE RECENT NASDAQ COLLAPSE?

Following a record bull market in Technology investments, this spring the market experienced a meltdown of values. Despite a subsequent bounce, particularly by big cap tech stocks, many - if not most - smaller New Economy stocks are still depressed. The shares of Amazon, a bellwether of the New Economy, are way down and prominent analysts have called its business model into question. Many private Internet companies are folding or clinging to survival and the IPO pipeline for New Economy stocks has ruptured.

Our joint MIT Enterprise Forum - MIT Sloan Club Roundtable features prominent speakers representing the New Economy who will speak from the perspective of Wall Street, Venture Capital and the emerging Internet operating company entrepreneur. Our panelists will debate issues of valuation, capital raising and how New Economy business models are evolving in the new investment climate.
