The transformation of retail and shopping over the past decade has been thrilling, with no end in sight. Simple yet sophisticated solutions around e-commerce mean that it has never been easier to “set up shop,” fulfill an order and get paid. Sure, you still need to attract your customer but you wouldn`t be the first multi-million dollar businesses that started on a platform like eBay.

At the same time we remain firmly anchored to the physical world, whether we shop on our couch or in brick & mortar. Today`s challenges circle around increased data-driven personalization, automated and otherwise interruptive ways to shop, and satisfying the consumer demand for a more coherent merging of the online and offline experience. There is still a lot of room for innovation and monetization on every step of the retail life-cycle from product need and discovery to upgrade and replacement.

It is up to the brightest minds in technology and business to find solutions to these exciting challenges ¬ and how to profit from that.

We invite seasoned and fresh innovators, entrepreneurs who are currently monetizing the changing landscape, representatives from within the retail industry as well as investors who provide the capital that moves the needle. Together, we will talk about challenges, solutions, and innovations in the space. Bright minds with an interest in the changes in retail and a willingness to actively contribute to the session are welcome.

PLEASE NOTE:

• This is no panel discussion but a think tank event format that asks all attendees to actively participate.

• Admission will be limited to facilitate high participation. Some places will be held for attendees with significant involvement in Retail (see below).

• Qualified attendees are invited to provide a short introduction to the organizers so that they can be identified and featured in discussion as “lead participants.” Please email to with the subject "Think Tank Participation." If registration has been closed, some reserved places may still be available.

• All free MITEF-NYC Member registrants will be required to re-confirm attendance between October 5 and 10, and all registrants are requested to notify us if they will not attend, so that seats can be made available to others. Please email to with the subject "Think Tank Attendance."
