Panel Speaker Biographies

Bal Agrawal

Adam Kalish
Partner, Lux Capital

Adam is a Partner at Lux Capital Management. Before joining Lux, Adam served as a Director of Everest Capital, a leading multi-strategy, opportunistic hedge fund with several billion in assets. Prior to Everest, he worked at Quellos Capital Management (acquired by BlackRock: BLK - NYSE), a multi-billion dollar alternative investment firm. He also worked at DreamWorks SKG in Los Angeles, where he reported directly to the President of the Studio.

Adam holds dual degrees in Economics and Communications from the University of Miami. He also studied Economics and Finance at the University of Westminster in London, England. Adam has been a frequent lecturer at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, MIT, and Johns Hopkins, as well as featured in the New York Times. Adam helped initiate the appointment of a technology expert to the Wall Street Journal. He was asked to help open the NASDAQ market and was invited to become an associate of the Milken Institute. Adam has been a coach for the Special Olympics and is an avid supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.


Alan Mitchell
ARMAK & Associates, LLC

Alan earned BS and MS degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT, and a PhD degree in Mathematics from Brown University. Subsequent to many years as a university mathematics teacher and researcher, he has accrued over 20 years experience leading the development of innovations in and for the applications software, application service provider, manufacturing, retail, and aerospace/defense industries. Alan`s experiences include roles as VP - Mobile Solutions, CosmoCom, Services VP at Avaya, and GM - Strategy & Business Development at Microsoft.

Alan founded and leads ARMARK & Associates, LLC, which is focused on helping organizations succeed through Information & Communications Technology (ICT).


Amy Dorn Kopelan
President, Bedlam Entertainment Inc.
and Co-Creator, The Guru Nation

Amy Dorn Kopelan has over 20 years� experience as a network television executive, and in 1995 created Bedlam Entertainment Inc., an independent conference producing company that owns and produces global leadership summits in the United States and Canada. Ms. Kopelan is also co-author of I Didn`t See It Coming, the book that teaches business professionals how to avoid being blindsided in business. She has been seen on FOX and Friends, BusinessWeek on-line, and On The Money, and featured in CEO Magazine, Business Week, Chief Learning Officer Magazine, and CNN.com. Prior to creating Bedlam Entertainment and The Guru Nation, Ms. Kopelan was a senior executive at ABC Television. She served as Vice President of Direct Marketing, Publisher of Episodes Magazine, Vice President of ABC Morning Television, and editor for ABC News.

Ms. Kopelan graduated cum laude from Boston University`s School of Public Communication and holds a special studies degree from the University of Grenoble, France. She teaches at the Grace Institute, serves on the Advisory Board of The Capstone Partnership, and serves as an advisor to the Institute for Career Advancement Needs.

Ms. Kopelan and her husband, an Executive Search consultant, live in New York and have three sons.


David Severance
Executive Coach

Mr. David Severance started his corporate career at All Nippon Airways (ANA), the worlds seventh-largest airline; he served in the Tour Department, which welcomed and cared for as many as 20,000 Japanese visitors annually.  Within three years David was in charge of that department, and eventually he became accountable for all sales and marketing activities in the Northeastern U.S. and Eastern Canada.  After seven year, he started an entrepreneurial venture as an executive coach and leadership consultant who assists corporate clients in surmounting personal and cultural barriers to high performance, especially those at the Japan-U.S. interface.
