Internet and technology labs in universities were the original "incubators" (think Netscape, for example). They are still "ground zero" for development of many of the new technologies and businesses models that will fundamentally reshape the Web and, therefore, the world.
In the past few months we have looked at some of the leading current emerging areas, such as broadband content. Tonight we will peer even further into the future, by taking a look at technologies and ventures still in development in the labs -- candidates for tomorrow's hottest new technologies.
Realtime visualization of arbitrarily large images, rule-generated virtual worlds, Internet infrastructure, multiple image communication, virtual worlds, augmented reality
this is but a small potpourri of current topics in the academic labs.
