Electronic Commerce:
The Next Generation

1998 promises to be "the Year of E-Commerce" the year when the buying and selling of goods and services online take off, when small as well as large businesses have access to e-commerce solutions, when online competition heats up for every type of e-product and service, and when increasing numbers of Web-centric businesses come to rely more and more on e-commerce for their revenues.
The reasons why? Convenience for the viewer. Cost-effective distribution for the marketer. And the voracious need for income by Web sites still waiting for online advertising revenues to materialize at the desired level.
Behind the scenes, new technologies are playing key roles in enabling e-commerce and fueling its explosive growth. This program looked at several of these and how they are transforming the use of the Web for both businesses and their customers.
