The Pace Pitch Contest is based on the Elevator Pitch concept, popular in the venture capital community. It is an extremely concise presentation of an entrepreneur's idea, business model, marketing strategy, competitive analysis, and financial plan, which is delivered to potential investors. The premise is that it could be made in a few minutes, should the entrepreneur spot a potential investor on an elevator and have the opportunity to pitch their idea during the brief ride.

A panel of venture capitalists and experts on new venture creation will critique the business plans of the three Finalists in Pace University's Fourth Annual Business Plan Competition. The panel will also discuss the overall purpose and value of a business plan, the process of securing venture capital, and the investor's role in early-stage venture management. The overall winner then be announced and allowed ten minutes to present his or her business plan.

Each of these three presenting companies aim to make their industries more efficient. For two of the three, this means better targeted advertising and information at consumers and point of sale. For the third, the financial services industry is the target--specifically cutting back on legal and settlement costs for investor lawsuits. Each plan will be presented to a panel of industry experts and venture capitalists, followed by an open question and answer discussion period.
